Smoke Alarm Batteries
Safety warning systems that are not wired directly into your household circuits, such as home smoke alarms, alert you when it's time to replace the battery. This is not the case with rechargeable batteries. Rechargeable batteries don't give you any warning when they are wearing out and can simply die at the end of their charge. As a result you will not hear a "chirp" from your smoke alarm to indicate that the battery needs replacing.
A dead battery in your smoke alarm leaves you and your family unprotected. Don't use a rechargeable battery in your smoke alarm.
Take charge. Check the battery in your smoke alarm regularly. Change them when making your semi-annual clock changes. The few moments this may take could save your life.
